![]() ![]() If I wanted to be competitive, would just get a newer Corvette and slap good tires on it. Same as you - I am stuck in SSM so just focus on raw times. I run my 2ZZ swapped 2005 in autox events locally. Or ditch this idea and just buy wider tires and wheels? Should I use his 195/50/15 tires on my stock wheels, or go out and buy some race wheels to mount them on? I have the stock 15 inch rims on the car with 185's on the front, 205's rear. So I am thinking I can just grab those and run for fun on a few weekends. My friend has and will have sets of 195/50/15 tires with 150 or 200 treadwear tires off his race car. I am not trying to win my class, but I would like to out run other cars, like a Celica GTS, I could care less about a trophy, just get better at driving. Since I have the 2zz, I am in the SSM class, so I concede I will not be competitive unless I want to start over and toss loads of cash at the car. Other than a cold air intake, I am pretty much basic car. I have a 2zz 6 speed tranny and ecu out of a 2,000 Celica GTS. I know the tires are crap, I just wanted to drive the car after I put the engine in it earlier this summer then this winter I was thinking of painting the car then buying a set of wheels and tires. Yes I made a lot of noise in the corners. It has a set of 3 or 4 year old MS tires with 500 treadwear. I bought out some guys failed swap attempt. I purchased the car (2001) in May or June after it had sat for a year. A friend of mine that is pretty big on the local race scene here asked me to go to autocross this past weekend. ![]()
